Manager/Managed Shifts

BlueWave's special Manager/Managed shift allows specified card holders to start an access shift. Managed codes will not work until a Manager has input their code to start the shift. They can also be referred to as ‘First-In’ or 'Opener' credentials.

In order to prevent updates from the BlueWave server from inadvertently resetting a shift during the course of the day, doors that have these shifts are automatically put into a “Disabled” mode each day. This does NOT indicate that there are any problems with the door – it means ONLY that the server is not actively communicating with the door. Doors that are disabled during the day are automatically enabled at the end of the shift or when the door unlocks on its daily schedule, and can receive updates automatically during those times.Whenever a shift is reset, a manager MUST use their code on the door to restart the shift and allow regular associates to access the store.

- This is how a disabled door will look like in the BlueWeb interface.

Adjusting a Manager/Managed Shift Door

To access advanced troubleshooting features, you must first navigate to and login to BlueWeb. Navigate to the Doors tab, and you will be able to see a list of doors that you have permission to adjust on the left side of the screen. Select the door that you wish to troubleshoot or update, it will show that communication is currently disabled for the server.

To enable the door, access advanced troubleshooting features by clicking on the plus sign next to “Click here for advanced troubleshooting features”.

Click “Enable communication with door” to tell the server to resume communication with the door. You will receive a pop up message saying that it succeeded.

Allow FIFTEEN MINUTES for the door to reconnect, pull current status, and recent audit events. Do not skip this step! Failure to do so can result in a loss of data! Doors will most likely have to wait in a queue to unload their data and will need time to be available for commands and requests. You may see a"Door Not Connected" status on the door, this is normal while the server reconnects to the controller.  Click on the door again on the list on the left-hand side of the screen to refresh its status, while you are waiting. Once the door has been given ample time to reconnect and upload its data, you can proceed with normal operations. If the issue continues or you see a different door icon, refer to Door Operations and Status.

In most cases, you can proceed with making any necessary programming changes.

To change People or check Reports follow the Guide to BlueWeb. Once finished, disable communication with the door.
