Preliminary Setup

Ensure the controller is either directly connected to the computer running Wireshark or at minimum is on the same broadcast domain.

Getting Started

Begin by launching Wireshark.

Double-click the interface labeled Ethernet or another wired connection with activity on it like Local Area Connection* [#]. Do not select the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth interfaces.

Filtering the Frame Capture

Next, type the following into the display filter:

eth.src.oui_resolved==Lantronix

Press enter and the box’s background will turn green:

Now you can browse through the list for data frames that match the MAC Address of the controller in question. You will be looking for ARP in the Protocol column and look in the Info column for the address after Tell. Optionally, you can press the network reset button on the board to prompt it to send out ARP frames and note the IP address from these.
